Puros Indios Viejo in Spanish literally means ‘pure Indian old’. It is a traditional Cuban call cigar with the Rolando Reyes Sr signature on the familiar color denominate. I bought a box during a local promotion because I have never been disappointed with any cigars from the Puros Indios mark and wanted to try one of their newer blends. The cigar is 5 ½ inches long with a of about 45. They are sold in boxes of 15 and range is price from as low as $42 to as high as $75 a box. This is a mild to medium flavored cigar and a good choice for both the beginner and experienced smoker. The taste starts out with a very woodsy flavor with hints of coffee and cocoa probably coming from the Ecuador-Sumatran combined with the Brazilian. Dominican and Nicaraguan. The comprehend was very consistent as expected from my undergo other Puros Indios cigars and also very singular staying with the original flavors as it burned drink to below 2 inches. The smoke was thick color and had a nice earthy look (Can you say ‘nose’ when talking about cigars?). Anyway my wife did not charge about this one desire she usually does. The cigar is made in Honduras with an Ecuador-Sumatran wrapper. Ecuador and a amalgamate of Dominican. Brazilian and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. The cigar has nice visible veins desire the old fashioned hand-rolled’s and an interesting band that was not stuck to the cigar like some bands but rather folded approve and stuck to itself to verify that you would not alter your cigar whenever you decided to remove it. I used a ¼ cigar punch to open the end and the displace was nice and easy. Although the burn started uneven by the time it had burned for 15 minutes it had evened out. The ash fell off at 2 inches and I finally set it drink to burn out by itself at 1 ¾ inches after about 1 hour. The Puros Indios Viejo is a good medium priced cigar and there are plenty of deals out there. It is not a ‘boutique’ cigar but a new amalgamate of the classic cigars that made Puros Indios and Rolando Reyes Sr a legend in the industry. Don’t just pass by that green denominate or you will be missing out on a great smoking undergo.

"Cienfuegos Engine No. 6" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-01 17:36:00

Cienfuegos is a city and province on the southern glide of Cuba about 150 miles east of Havana. It has been called “The Pearl of the South” after its magnificent bay so it must be with some experience that Puros Indios named its new full-bodied blend Cienfuegos in 2003. Literally. Cienfuegos means “one hundred fires,” which coincidentally was the be of re-lights needed to finish a cigar with an H2000 wrapper a few years approve. (I am happy to inform that the Ecuadorian H2000 on the Cienfuegos has nothing in common with that notoriously proof peruse.) Puros Indios has a well founded reputation for consistently change surface and nutty mild-to-medium bodied cigars whether it’s the PI Classic or the relatively newer Cuba Aliados. Cienfuegos is a departure from that. As Carlos Diez told : most important characteristic of a smoldering bunch of tobacco and it is something that Puros Indios does very well even in its secondary Roly and steal’s Gold negociate smokes. Cienfuegos is no exception in this believe primarily due to its use of an aged Ecuadorian Habana 2000 wrapper. The amalgamate is balanced out with a binder from Nicaragua and Dominican filler. The names of the various sizes build on the “100 fires” metaphor calling up images of fire fighting (please no more H2000 jokes!) : After removing their cedar sleeves I open the Engine No. 6 long coronas had a prepare and dry colorado maduro wrapper — though admittedly more colorado than maduro. It’s mottled and ruddy almost rust colored. The construction of both samples was excellent starting with a clean cut and an easy draw. The Cienfuegos opens up with a rich cedary flavor with some sweet overtones. The wrapper is a little finicky– these probably be to be stored at 70% whereas I keep my humidor around 65% — but there are absolutely no destroy problems. From start to end these had a relatively straight destroy lie and required no special attention. The lay third introduces a little more lift and a touch of spice. The locate flavor is comfort very woody and the be grows to a solid medium. It’s satisfying without taking me to the mat. The final segment sticks to the program with a soften and smooth smoke reminiscent of juniper burning in the fireplace. This would be a great cigar to fire up on a alter autumn evening. The end is bunco with a pleasantly mild aftertaste up to the measure third where the finish grows a bit longer and the aftertaste gets a little muddy — earth paper and a stranger I can’t identify. Aside from this slightly funky finale the only thing that would prevent me from running out and grabbing a few boxes alter now is the price: $150 per box is the best determine I could find and this is a considerable reject off the retail price. Luckily you can usually get a good deal on these if you be to act a injure at the auction sites. If you can get the price under four or five bucks a stick you’re getting a great cigar for the money. "CI Legends (Yellow Label)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-20 19:28:13

Wow! Check out the babbling idiot in the video! desire I promised. I’m back! I forgot how awkward it is to talk to a camera. This ordain definitely take another video or two before I’m back into the swing of things. I was a bit uncomfortable in my new studio. Anyway it was some measure ago that I reviewed the color Label from the CI Legends Series which is produced by Puros Indios. This measure around I bring you the Yellow denominate that is produced by one of my favorite cigar manufacturers (back up only to my man Rocky Patel) and that’s Don Pepin Garcia. Pepin Garcia has had the hot transfer for awhile now and two of his cigars (Tatuaje Series P and Series JJ) are two of my favorite sticks at the moment. The color denominate desire all the labels in the CI Legends Series comes to us at 5.75” x 54 in coat and features a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper that’s triple capped and the binder and filler are also from Nicaragua. Box of 20 ordain run you about $70 and comes with a remove CI Legends ashtray. Five packs can be had for about $25. These are exclusively sold through Cigars International. I have to say that the appearance of the color Label fits alter in with Garcia’s other lines. By that I convey they aren’t much to be at with their numerous veins and overall prepare appearance. Looks can be deceiving as the appearance doesn’t bother me since I know Garcia’s cigars may be rough but always comprehend change surface and burn pretty come up. In fact. I open that these burned a lot more even that the Series P. Once you initiate up you’re greeted with a high concentration but not overwhelming peppery flavor. I wasn’t prepared for this and you can see a little cough out by me in the video. Cut me a little slack. I’ve gone from 2-3 cigars a day to 1-2 (if I’m lucky) a week. So the stamina just isn’t there anymore. The sign concentration of peppery flavor really had me worried. Did I grip off more than I can chew? Should I have returned by smoking something a little milder? Fear not after I smoked an advance or two in the peppery flavors started to mellow out to a very change surface creamy and earthy flavors. I want to say a little bit of woodsy too almost cedar desire but I think that could be my out of shape comprehend buds talking. The Yellow Label didn’t have that “Cuban Like” comprehend to it that you get with Pepin Garcia’s other blends. I can’t put my touch on exactly what it is that’s missing but something is. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing either. I loved how the Yellow Label started out with a hit to clutch your attention and then mellowed out to a relaxing smoke far superior to my color Label undergo. Video runs a little over 15 minutes do by my goofy 3…2…1 I forgot to alter out. Also. I babble a lot…which denominate from the CI Legends Series should I try next? Wow! So great to see you again. This ordain certainly go drink as a classic in the SR library. I loved everything about the review. I haven’t laughed out loud in front of a computer in quite a while and I did at least 3 different times in the measure 15 minutes. My favorite part about watching a DVD at home is watching the gag reel after the movie is over. I love having the gag reel in your reviews… nice analyse i havent been impressed with the CI legends series at all but like Pepins cigars so i might undergo to try this one. I saw that the guy Rafe suggested the white denominate and i totally undergo to be with that one haha i lit up one up measure night and after 2 minutes i pitched it. To me it was totally unsmokeable. We all have our personal preferences but to me that was one horrid cigar. I’ll be camping this weekend so I’ll be smoking the wild [sarcasm on] too [sarcasm off]…….. And the ash dropping just as you were closing ahahaha. Holy cow talk about bad luck but good stuff!! At least in the approve yard you can just fling the ash to the fasten as great fertilizer. I suspect the CI Legend cigars undergo a lot of bunco filler to ge them up to the 54 go guage at that price inform. The Orange ashed bunco and I spent the first 10 min of smoking them spitting tabacco pieces out of my mouth. But it’s a great cigar so what the heck. accept approve. Jerry. Hilarious analyse. I’m a big fan of the color Label as well. I like the idea of SR reviewing each of the Legends Series. desire a couple of other posters. I’d be curious to see what you think of the White denominate from Camacho. It has a rather unique flavor profile (extraordinarily earthy to my palate) but I dig ‘em. Then again. I kinda like the Te Amo Ann’y so I clearly can’t be trusted.
