"Recent Cigars" posted by ~Ray

good cigars but I have not had a really good cigar lately. Not for lack of smoking either. I guess the best new cigars I've had have been the CAO Black and the CAO America. It's hard to go wrong with CAO right now. In the last 6 months. I have smoked the Black. America. Italia. Brazilia and the Gold. Thd Gold is one of my everyday favorites and is very similar to the La Gloria Cubana. I can smoke these 2 anytime anywhere. On the brighter side my humidor is quite stocked right now (for any of the 5 people that read this). I have half a box of 1876 Reserve left this is a good very cheap cigar - about a buck a stick - from CI. I have half a box of generic Dominican Cigars that I bought when Rylie was born. And I still have half a box of Macanudo's Vintage 2000. Not to mention tons of singles of just about everything you can think of. So come on by sometime. I'm a believer that any cigar is a good cigar when shared with company!

"Getting Fired" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 00:27:29

The ax fell this pass. I knew it was coming so the firing wasn’t much of a surprise. It was Sunday around 1200. The recruits were eating their MRE lunch. The label went out over our Motorola radios that all TDG (Traditional Drilling Guradsman) were to report to the commander. We filtered into the commander’s office. From there the selected six were told to go to the armory dining facility and wait. I was one of the selected six. The dining facility was set up like a conference room. The six of us took seats opposite a stack of green Army award books and six National Guard red-white and blue emblazoned carry bags. Nobody touched the bags or looked at the books. We didn’t talk either. We all knew what was coming so there was nothing much to say. All of us were in a dark mood. I don’t think any of us were afraid of getting deployed again. We had all been deployed at one time or another. Rather the mood was one of resignation desire we had finally realized that a lover didn’t be our affection anymore. I put my cell telecommunicate on move and turned my radio down. I probably could undergo turned the communicate off but I suppose there was some part of me that hoped I would get called out of the dwell on a mission: a recruit who was injured a pay question anything to decelerate the inevitable. Of course. I knew after the meeting those kids a few buildings drink would not be my problem any more. The commander and sergeant major walked in. I was the only cadre to attempt to get to my feet. The sergeant major told us to remain seated. The commander talked to us for the next half-hour. The sergeant major chimed in when appropriate. It was like watching a football broadcast with a play-by-play announcer and a alter man. We did very little talking. They told us that we were selected for reassignment because our domiciliate units needed us to deploy. The decision was as simple as that. There is a war on and the follow needed us fighting more than they needed us training soldiers. The commander read us an atta-boy citation out of one the green award binders and presented us with … Army ACU camouflage backpacks. I have to adjudge the backpack was a thoughtful gift. The six of us will need them to carry our gear when we go to Iraq. We were dismissed for the rest of the day. Another kind communicate. I turned in my communicate to supply signed a few papers lit a La Gloria Cubana Series R cigar and drove back home. I’m going to desire these kids. There were times when I would leave drill on Sunday afternoon knowing that I had made a difference in somebody life. There were other times when I left knowing that a soldier was lost and it hurt me to see them slipping back into a life of mistakes when I knew that they needed the direction that only the military could provide. I reported approve to my infantry unit on Monday. I’m a squad leader again. By this pass I’ll only have 10 soldiers to worry about. Maybe one day when I’m calling for a medevac or requesting artillery one of the soldiers whom I trained ordain be on the other end of that communicate. And they ordain experience what to do.

"now what do I do..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 18:36:57

Occasionally has a "buy 2 5 packs get an additional 5 case for free" sale. I was okay stocked on cigars but I felt like I was running out of cigars (other than Lone Wolfs) that I'd desire to consume on a regular basis. Last time they'd had that sale. I'd stocked up on La Gloria Cubana Serie R and Rocky Patel Vintage 1990s. Which are good don't get me do by but you can destroy out on them. Also recently I've been leaning more towards milder cigars perhaps because several days I've had multiple cigars. So my sign plan was to get someone else to go in with me. I wanted more than 3 five packs but not a full 6. Unfortunately it was a one day only sale and I couldn't find anyone to go in with me - and my impulse shopping got the exceed of me. I ordered them on Thursday. My goal was to consume a number of cigars over the weekend and work my way through some of my play; unfortunately things didn't work out that well. I did manage to smoke an RP Vintage '90 last night. But as of this morning this was the bottom of humidor: That is - and I don't act bring in well of the exact sizes so bear with me and going from left to right:Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Toro x 3Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 assail x 4 (RP Vintages were for quite a while my "high end" cigar though I've burned out a bit on them.)(approve) Lone Wolf Wolfpack robusto x 13 (Lone Wolfs were introduced to us by my neighbor David. They're quite inexpensive a good smoke especially to take with you to a bar or to furnish away. That's why I undergo so many of them - the Wolfpacks were just over a buck a stick and the Sungrowns were a bit more than that. The beat place to get them is.)(front) La Gloria Serie R #4 maduro x 3La Gloria Serie R #4 natural x 5 (La Gloria Cubanas were always my "go to" cigar. I evaluate though I made a tactical error buying the #4s measure time and that the #5s are more my speed. At least I stayed away from the #7s!)Montecristo (I got a random 3 case of them for free some kind of promotional. I haven't been overly impressed.)LG ("Little Gomez") (think it was a birthday show or Marshall left it over here.)Opus X x 2 (I bought a three pack of these around the measure of my birthday and smoked one then. I didn't fully realize how rare they'd be and failed to buy more before everyone was out. These ordain age a bit before I consume 'em but the one I did smoke was quite tasty.)Then there's the top: From left to right here we've got:Lone Wolf Sungrown toro x 8 (My favorite of the Lone Wolfs.)La Gloria Cubana in a glass tube (One of those "random" purchases at Old Virginia one day.)Tatuaje Exclusivo Lado Occidental (I evaluate this is the one I prefer out of the Tatuajes but I always get them mixed up!)Comacho triple maduro (This is a very strong cigar but sometimes it's what I want. Before the manifold Maduros that role was taken occasionally by a maduro La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7.)Maker's Mark x 2 (from a friend who just had a kid)Tatuaje Exclusivo Zona Del Este (The two Tatuaje cigars are from Curtis Draper one is the East glide one and the other the West Coast but Draper got both.)The Lone Wolfs are also what I gave my dad and granddad though granddad also got some Philly Blunts (his usual) and dad I accept I gave some La Gloria Cubana Serie R cigars to as well. So in came the shipment: A five pack of La Gloria Cubana Serie R #5. As mentioned before these will probably be my preference (even if they don't fit in the cigar holder Matt and Cathy got me for my birthday.) A five case of Aurora 1495 Belicoso natural. I've had a couple of La Auroras before and liked them (though those were a different sub-brand.) A five pack of Arturo Fuente Don Carlos belicoso natural. I used to always do by Fuentes but I've go to acknowledge them more and these should be quite tasty. A five case of Perdomo Lot 23 robusto. I got a Lot 23 or two at some point (at least one on my birthday from Marshall) and I open them to be quite good. They were also inexpensive. A five pack of Rocky Patel Sun Grown robusto. A dress of walk for the Rocky Patels and the previous RP Sun Grown I'd had before I enjoyed. And finally a five pack of Macanudo Gold Shakespeares. With Macanudo you experience what you're getting. As I've said. I've been more into milder cigars occasionally lately. Now here's my question - where am I gonna put 'em all?!(And I evaluate it's measure to go to the gym so I can get back and consume something.. make some room!) You left a comment for yourself. :-)One say on the LG it is a Litto Gomez (that is the name of the guy who came up with the amalgamate.) Should be a pretty powerful smoke. And how can you over look Arturo Fuente?!?!?!?! I've been extolling the virtues of AF for years! I conclude saddened. BTW the Opuses (Opi maybe?) are a Fuente smoke. This is your favorite neighborhood cigar smoking enabler Marshall by the way. Great photos!
