I smoked it during the second Red Sox/Angels ALDS game and it took the majority if the length of the game to go through it. It was a beautiful looking example of a La Flor Dominicana cigar wrapped in a beautiful leaf that just glistened with oil. It really smoked rather well considering the size of the stogie the displace was never an issue and the burn was not bad the only construction issue was the ash was flaky and fell off rather often. It is too bad that the cigar didn't live up to the billing. This cigar was all strength and tanginess to the exclusion of all other flavors. Now mind you I like the LFD tanginess but I like to have other flavors involved as well. Maybe with a little age these will round themselves out a bit and develop more nuance. Alas right now it is all gusto and youth and after about five inches or so it became kind of a challenge to see how far I could smoke the cigar. Cigars smoking should not be a challenge. Yesterday was my Mom’s birthday and we had the family over for a big turkey dinner. After the dinner I was chatting with my brother in law about cigars and gave him a Oliva Series G Natural. He’s not much of a cigar smoker but he’ll have one on a rare occasion. I’m sure that Oliva will sit and dry out and he’ll find it in 3 months and query if it’s any good. As we were talking I wanted to bring out a cigar I won at our cigar unify raffle in Sept. Joel the owner of Burn donated the La Flor Dominicna manifold Ligero Series A. He said this was released only for the RTDA and they only made 1000 of them. This cigar measures 9×47. When I showed my brother in law he was quite impressed with the size of the cigar. As I took it out of my humidor I noticed right away how oily this cigar was in my hands. It was almost like I had lotion on my hands. I knew I would have to light this up. It had that juicy look and feel to it. I thought about keeping it for a while basically to show it off but being its 9 inches my traveling humidor would be way to small and any cigar bag I had would still be too small. What the hey i’ll light it. Previously I had smoked the Double Ligero Chisels and really enjoyed the full flavor. They were a serious butt kicker. If you didn’t drink with that cigar and went out driving you would be pulled over for DWI. It would leave me quite light headed after smoking. The construction of the cigar is solid. Its quite veiny and again I note the oily feel to the cigar. Just looking at it is quite intimidating makes me wonder how i’ll get through it in only a few hours. I lighten it up with a match and act my first puffs its an easy draw for being so long. The first inch burned uneven and the ash was quite flaky. After ashing after the first inch the cigar seemed to change by reversal itself and it burned even throughout the rest of the consume. The flavor it quite full. The taste I got right away was dirt. For a leaf that is farthest away from the ground thats all I could taste. As I approached the halfway point the cap came apart. The cigar is so easy to let hang from my mouth within my teeth.
