Rob,I'd like to suggest the following.1. Roll a double-wrappered cigar to further expand on the wrapper effect investigations. Specifically we can't really gauge the influence of wrapper unless we have two points on the line. Three if you count the wrapperless version.2. Remove the wrapper from and rewrap a cigar so that it can be smoked head-to-foot against a "normal" foot-to-head smoked cigar to determine if leaf orientation really does play a part in the development and progression of a cigar. It has been claimed that orienting the leaf tips to the foot and the leaf stem-ends to the head contributes to development.3. Roll the robusto with one or two levels of increased or decreased ligero to provide some insight into the dilution effect. Ideally the volado-seco ratio would remain the same while the overall proportion of these leaves decreased or increased respectively.4. Roll a cigar that has a higher proportion of ligero at the foot another with more at the head and one with even proportion of ligero from foot to head. This is to let us examine the influence of leaf placement on development.5. Roll a cigar with ligero at the center of the bunch and another with the ligero distributed on the outside next to the binder. This is to examine the influence yet another aspect of construction and leaf placement on the characteristics of the cigar. I could probably come up with a few more but I figure that's enough to think about for now.
Oh for ideas 3-5. I chose a robusto because I presume the extra girth would allow more freedom in manipulating the number of leaves. I also chose ligero as the "marker" leaf because I figured its assertiveness would lend itself best to detection. If those assumptions are off-base then please go with something else that meets the spirit of my intentions. Kudos to you. Rob for committing the time effort and resources to this kind of study. Your inquisitiveness coupled with your access provides a rare opportunity for us all to learn. Wilkey
