I didn't know there was a "cigar season". I smoke em on special occasions and they have to be good. A guy I work with goes to Cuba 2-3 times a year and brings home huge boxes of Cohibas. He's a cigar junkie and I've tasted some good ones from him. What are your favorites. Mike?
_____________________________________/‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
I dont smoke that often so when i do. i want something great and only smoke premium cigars. to smoke cheap cigars you get cheap taste and might as well eat at mcdonalds all the time iv had various Cubans (I can get them easily from Windsor Canada) but they are absurdly priced. though I will say the pryamid-Romeo-Juliet Cuban is about the best Iv had. the dominican Romeo-Juliet FYI is no where near close in flavor-build to the cuban ones.. Cuban Cohibas are good but had to be carefull as they were pushing some green ones through a few years back... Iv had the "legendary" Feunte Opus X which was flavoroverload -not really my taste as it's an EXREMELY spicy chocolate flavor. overwhelmed me a bit.. Cigars can be like a rich desert. some are so overwhelming rich that the first few bites are heaven but past that gives you that icky sweet overdoing it feeling feunte's.. some are good like the canones but others just tend to have to much pepper and dryness to the taste. will say most feuntes are amount the best constructed and tightly rolled ones on the market. very smokey.. Just stay away from thier no-brand ones they can be really nasty.. Padrons are also a bit too spicy for me. but very flavorfull.. The Punch lines are one of the most unique lines. and the cubans are awesome. the dominan versions are very unique in a full flavor sweet spicyness I really like.. Davidoff's are amount the most creamiest "buttery" flavor cigars iv had (very expensive though) .. Macanudos are not bad but have a bit of an "off taste" that is not everyones taste. Some of the Acid Line are amazingly good but very very different as they are actually spiced cigars. alot of traditionalists po po them but I like them for something different.. Fonseca have some really good creamy cigars.. CAO's have some great creamy-nutty flavored ones. there are many many others that are "supposed" to be good that are just flat out awefull. have no taste or metallic taste. some even have a tounge numbing novacane taste so you really gota watch it. no all cigars are alike.. There are plenty of bad "premium" cigars out there that id rather smoke a swisher sweet.. Many people that don't like cigars I can bet you because they had only tryed a mass produced or a crappy premium.. If more people would try A good handmade premium cigar I bet cigar smokers would be alot more comonplace.. I just tried a new cigar.. "kristoff" maduro. really liked it. very flavorfull rich chocolate-coffee and aromatic and good draw. its a great very rich smoke but the body may be a bit heavy for some people. a bit easier but as enjoyable smoke i just tried is the fonseca "cubano llimatado" 5x52This is an awesome cigar. and is what I would give to a ficianado as well as newb to show what a cuban cigar tastes more like. very creamy easy going texture yet full flavor. probably one of the best cigs iv tried and it's only 6$. It Easily stands up to the much more expensive 14,16$ premiums iv tried. there are many different premium cigars blends that have different flavors but this fonseca was about the best overall to represent what a really good premium is..

Consider it the Facebook for cigar bloggers and enthusiasts. Sure a lot of cigar bloggers have been finding one another on our own volition. Sure there are MySpace. Yahoo Groups and Facebook circles of cigar smokers and bulletin boards galore. But is really the first one that encapsulates the whole Web 2.0 movement and has brought many of us together. You can check out photos and videos from cigar smokers from all over the net. Plus there are contests discussion groups and forums on issues that are near and dear to hearts and minds of cigar aficionados. Check out and on Social CigarNice work in creating this site.
All of the thoughts expressed on the Daily Doormatt are solely mine. I do not work for or represent any cigar manufacturers cigar retailers or any tobacco special interest groups nor do I represent these interests at my place of employment. I have enjoyed and studied cigars for more than 10 years and use this site as a forum to ameliorate and inform readers who are interested in cigars and the lifestyle. I see cigars as a product that can be enjoyed in the same vein as wine considering the level of dilate patience and craftsmanship put into both. Cigars like wines should be enjoyed responsibly and carry certain health risks. Cigars are not a safer alternative to cigarettes. Thank you for viewing The Daily Doormatt
