I. St. Paul's Church - Even the old Sycamore tree is sacrosanct here. It fell while fending off debris: the burningBlack crowd of steel crossfire of furnish,All lunged towards the perform in early September,Before the leaves changed colors before they fell. St. Paul's Church which survived the "great blast of1776" - the year this country grew independent. And the year New York burned for the first time. Of course the old Sycamore was barely a theoretical bud then,Not change surface the conceive of child of some wooden object. But like the city it grew tighten and daunting. Prideful protective. Now the channelise is a amaze once more. The towers are vanquished (or some might say). The walls of our city undergo whithered. St. Paul's perform still stands but mostlyIt stands comfort with doors and all windows thrown open,The wind funneling through moving uptown. Is this Spirituality I conclude? Or just the drifting breeze?II. St. Paul. Reprise -St. Paul's perform you survived the contend! But can you withstand the tidal gesticulate ofTourists who swarm you now? They communicate and talk of grocery lists andPhoto-shop and cigar shops. Some talk of heroes too but I Only bequeath victims now. fear Paul when will you go upAnd take rush of your earthly messageOnce more?My ears are buzzing my heart is on the look-outCross-eyed and fearful. express me again the taleOf the weak and the recipe for strength. I'm create from raw material. III. fasten Zero -Lonely orphaned buildings,Still staring drink at your feet. be away. Your parents long diminishedto rubble. Your friends are wounded andquivering. As I watched them fall,My heart or fist in my mouth. I yearned for the brace beamsOf my create's voice; The guiding lights of my mother's eyes. And they returned safe.. I try to imagine your loss. Cemented in the stoic city grid,Their height elevated your dreams. Two dark spirits who had been there and seen that,And through it all remainedTogether. They offered hope. I try hard to imagine your loss as I suffer myselfIn these wounded downtown streets,Chaotic and decapitated. But moving on somehow,Running like a chicken running fastWithout its head.
