10/02/07 - The University of Rhode Island men's ice hockey team started its season with a pair of victories winning 6-2 on Friday and 10-1 on Saturday. The young Rams got a little bit of a scare in game one falling behind 2-1 in the second period. However. Rhody junior Cory Manley tied the game with 5:34 to go in the second period on a power play goal assisted by junior Jon Biliouris and junior Jon Pinheiro. Just over one minute later the Rams took the lead for good on a goal from sophomore Warren Byrne assisted by sophomore David Berard and junior Rob Peterson. After taking the lead the Rams cruised tacking on two more goals en route to a 6-2 victory. The Rams were able to win despite having such an inexperienced team compared to years past."We have so many new guys. I mean we ran the same 12 guys for at least four years," Rams coach Joe Augustine said. "We were sloppy at times but guys are still trying to learn."The Rams picked up exactly where they left off in game two with senior Stephen Gaffney scoring in the first two minutes of the game. Rhody added three more scores before the end of the period on goals from freshman Kyle Krannich. Byrne and Manley to go ahead 4-0 after the first period. Byrne finished the weekend with four goals and an assist as the top points scorer for the Rams on the weekend tilts."I was happy with my performance," Byrne said. "My lines are just my lines though. I was just the guy who happened to be there putting the puck in the net."The Rams did not stop putting the pressure on scoring five more in the second period including a goal 11 seconds into the period from junior Mike Bragger. The Rams added another goal in the third period before Buffalo finally got on the scoreboard in the final three minutes of the game ending sophomore Andrew Lisi's shutout bid. Despite failing to record the shutout. Lisi was not terribly concerned about the goal."I mean obviously you want to try to get the shutout but it happens. You can't have everyone," Lisi said. Junior Ray Martin covered the goaltending responsibilities in game one while Lisi played in game two. Both will try to replace Anthony Feyock who had been a starter since his freshman year before graduating last spring."The only thing you thought about when Anthony was going was when to give him a rest,"Augustine said. The goalies are not the only ones battling for a spot with 12 core players graduating from the program last year."I like [the competition] because it gives everyone something to prove," Byrne said. Only time will tell but as of right now not one spot is set in stone for the Rams. Rhody will look to continue to roll next weekend in a tough match up with the United States Naval Academy at the Boss Ice Arena.

"Dropkick drops another great album" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-25 01:24:40

10/02/07 - If you've seen The Departed or Fever Pitch then you've heard of the Dropkick Murphys. Hailing from Boston. This Celtic punk band rose to fame after two of its songs. "Shipping up to Boston" and "Tessie" from its 2005 album. Warrior's Code were chosen as part of the soundtracks of these two big films. This year. Dropkick Murphys is sending out its sixth studio album for us to enjoy. The Meanest of Times. The band's trademark beat and frantic relentless tempo show up once again as it talks about the ups and downs of dealing with your family your friends and your life. The CD opens with the song "Famous for Nothing" which for Dropkick Murphys fans sounds a bit like "Captain Kelly's Kitchen" from Warrior's Code because of its story-like lyrics as it speaks of what it's desire to be in Catholic school. All of Dropkick Murphy's songs relate back to its roots. As bassist Ken Casey said. "We always wanted to be that band that didn't forget where it came from and we keep it in the forefront of our minds that we're all in it together." This is evident from the songs that the band sings in The Meanest of Times. For dilate in the song "Never Forget," Dropkick Murphys reminds us to love the family we have. It starts off with Scruffy Wallace on the bagpipes playing a mean intro that then leads to the lively beat of drums and guitars as only Dropkick Murphys can alter. With bring about vocalist Al Barr singing lines like. "When you got love and you got family keep 'em close and don't forget to hold them right there in your heart when you got love and family," it's hard to stop yourself from thinking about your own kin. kick Murphys talks about fallen friends in the second song of the album. "God Willing." With Barr singing. "They didn't make it," over and over again you think that it'll be a really sad song but when paired with the brisk rhythm it sounds more like a song celebrating a reunion "on the other side".

"Cigar Review: Excalibur 1066" posted by ~Ray

I finally got around to doing my analyse on the Excalibur 1066 lie. This cigar was picked for the assort analyse in the. I reviewed the but have never really thought about the rest of the line. It has never grabbed my attention at. I’m glad it was picked to analyse by the members or I don’t experience when I would undergo got around to trying it. Excalibur 1066 King ArthurCountry: HondurasLength/go: 6 1/4 x 45Shape: Corona GordaWrapper: NaturalStrength: MediumPrice: Around $5 Pre-light: The King Arthur is a nice looking cigar but it doesn’t jump out at you in the hold on. It has a lot of small veins and has a wet leather look to it. The predraw was tighten. I undergo only used a hit on these and I have had no affect with it. I feel no soft spots. The Burn: The burn is as good as I undergo seen in a while only going off slightly. So no issue at all with the burn line. The ash is color/color and holds on come up. It dropped at about an inch and a half on my demand. I got two different draws on two different cigars. The first one I had was tight the other was good with both having a good be of smoke. It never thought about going out on me. It seems out of the I’m the only one so far to run into a tight draw so I will not direct it against this stogie. The Taste: This is where I got really surprised and puzzled why I have not had these yet. This is my kind of cigar this is defiantly a medium consume with a great nutty flavor throughout. It never got bitter on me and it only got a little hot the measure inch. Plus it goes good with a 24oz Bud. Over all: destroy: good. Taste: good. Price: not so good. I desire this cigar a lot it makes a great consume while drinking some beer that has a great flavor but something you don’t have to evaluate about to much. At $3.50 this would be a ameliorate consume at a little over $5 it is a good smoke. I advise you giving this one a try it makes a great beer drinking cigar.
