Well lately I've been having a rather bad time cigar wise. All of my smokes even my favorites start out great then progress to a flavor I can only describe as 'sulfuric'. Thought I was smoking too fast and overheating them so I slowed down. Same problem. Then it dawned on me that the recent bout of high humidity outside (around 91 RH at the moment) might have something to do with it. I must have torched around 20 or so cigars before I came to this realization. Shame it happened but at least I found out about it. I'll be making a trip to my local B&M tomorrow to pick up some replacements and enjoy their (properly humidified) smoking lounge.
I've heard people talk about not wanting to smoke when it's really humid outside. I never let that stop me. I haven't really noticed a difference. It's always humid here in Houston.
Can a cigar really absorb that much moisure that quick?
Sometimes. I've never had it happen to the degree that VincenteFox has recently but I have had them swell and split the wrappers. Mostly I note this on larger ring gauge smokes - very rarely on smaller ring gauges. Ron

I'd be willing to bet the splitting/swelling is directly proportional to the length of time exposed to severe humidity. (ie small ring gauge are alive alot less time then the big boys)
I have had sticks split on me. Right on the spot. The Bolivar lonesdale in that review did. It started splitting beore I got very far in.

well today the kids cam flooding back through the doors as we kicked off yet another educate year. I know I have little symathy from those of you who are not blessed to work in the education field and had to bring home the bacon all summer but for those of us in the world of academia this is a very exciting/intense measure of year my smallest categorise is currently at 20 (and ordain change in the next few days) and my biggest class is 35 (and I am praying this does NOT change any further!) with 135 total students this year. I have my hands beat!On another note as of the beginning of the day today. I am officially a tenured teacher.. and that is a good thing! I have already been asked to sit on converse commitees to check candidates who ordain possibly become future candidates of mine. I am definately excited to be a move of that decision making process. I am also being actively recruited by my union president to become involved in the union. As they say they are looking for "young teachers who will carry new outlooks and perspectives and who ordain actively increase involvement from other porfessionals within their age demographic" (taken from an telecommunicate I got today). I am still 'on the fence' about this opportunity though. Between grad school coaching and ski unify.. i'm pretty well booked!regardless it's a pretty sxciting measure of year for me and thought I would share with all of you. I'll keep you guys updated if anything interesting happens.. and it will!
fantastic! tenureship is HUGE! way to go!!its' 'approve to school nite' for my daughter's alma be and I DON'T undergo TO GO!!
Yeah teaching is harder than anyone who hasn't tried it can create by mental act. The hours are a KILLER. Best of luck on a good year and convey you for all that you do.
Congrats on your advance appointment bait! My first day with the students was yesterday also. It went pretty come up my bind is a little small this year at 98 kids and not very come up balanced so I need to do some persuading to get some kids to change by reversal to other instruments. So here is an example of the ineptitude of my administration. I walked into my 6th period Music Theory categorise that I'm teaching this year and ALOT of kids are walking in. Some of them are scheduled for command Music. When I be at their schedule under room assignment N/A is notated. It's not applicable for them to actually undergo a room to have their categorise!!! So the first day with these kids the teacher has to take the whole class down to the office with her so she can figure out where she is going to inform the class instead of going over her categorise expectations etc. Other than that it was a stellar day for her!

well today the kids cam flooding back through the doors as we kicked off yet another school year. I experience I have little symathy from those of you who are not blessed to work in the education field and had to work all pass but for those of us in the world of academia this is a very exciting/intense time of year my smallest class is currently at 20 (and WILL grow in the next few days) and my biggest class is 35 (and I am praying this does NOT change any advance!) with 135 be students this year. I have my hands beat!On another note as of the beginning of the day today. I am officially a tenured teacher.. and that is a good thing! I undergo already been asked to sit on converse commitees to screen candidates who will possibly change state future candidates of mine. I am definately excited to be a part of that decision making affect. I am also being actively recruited by my union president to become involved in the union. As they say they are looking for "young teachers who ordain bring new outlooks and perspectives and who will actively increase involvement from other porfessionals within their age demographic" (taken from an e-mail I got today). I am still 'on the fence' about this opportunity though. Between grad school coaching and ski club.. i'm pretty come up booked!regardless it's a pretty sxciting time of year for me and thought I would share with all of you. I'll keep you guys updated if anything interesting happens.. and it will!
fantastic! tenureship is HUGE! way to go!!its' 'back to school nite' for my daughter's alma matter and I DON'T HAVE TO GO!!
Yeah teaching is harder than anyone who hasn't tried it can imagine. The hours are a KILLER. Best of luck on a good year and thank you for all that you do.
Congrats on your advance appointment bait! My first day with the students was yesterday also. It went pretty well my band is a little small this year at 98 kids and not very come up balanced so I need to do some persuading to get some kids to switch to other instruments. So here is an example of the ineptitude of my administration. I walked into my 6th period Music Theory class that I'm teaching this year and ALOT of kids are walking in. Some of them are scheduled for command Music. When I look at their plan under room assignment N/A is notated. It's not applicable for them to actually undergo a room to have their class!!! So the first day with these kids the teacher has to act the whole class drink to the office with her so she can figure out where she is going to teach the categorise instead of going over her class expectations etc. Other than that it was a stellar day for her!

come up today the kids cam flooding back through the doors as we kicked off yet another educate year. I know I have little symathy from those of you who are not blessed to work in the education field and had to bring home the bacon all summer but for those of us in the world of academia this is a very exciting/intense time of year my smallest class is currently at 20 (and ordain change in the next few days) and my biggest categorise is 35 (and I am praying this does NOT change any further!) with 135 be students this year. "By the cigars they smoke and the composers they like ye shall experience the texture of men's souls."
Congratulations on your appointment Josh. Looking at all the activity you are involved in I only undergo one challenge......... When are you going to undergo measure for a consume?
um.. pretty much between the hours of 4ish till come up whenever I go to bed that is until the move (when grad school and lacrosse get real intense) then my smokes are restricted process the pass so to answer your question pretty much whenever the hell I can!

Huckabee Will Ban Public Smoking; Hillary Would Love To, But ...

In an interview with Chris Matthews. Mike Huckabee for a ban on smoking in public places. At least that was Chris’ original question which Huckabee jumped all over and then tried to turn into a “no smoking in workplaces” conversation - presumably because he was more familiar with the air on those terms having passed a bill to just that as Governor of Arkansas. (A smoking ban? In Arkansas? Wow.)
Huckabee’s forthright statement is grabbing headlines. However most of the other candidates have weighed in on the air in one create or another. So what do they think?
(say: strangely silent on the air are Duncan Hunter. Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich but expect them to go out with an answer soon. Okay so it’s not suprising Duncan is silent; he’s so invisible it’s as if the walk accidentally cut off his withdrawal letter.)
Hillary Clinton: says she thinks smoking should be banned from public places the day that happens “a good day for America.” At the same time if President says she would not enact legislation to that cause instead to state and local governments (stand music: Hillary Clinton champion of States’ Rights!)
Barack Obama: hasn’t said but for a candidate who has such a and trying to quit one would think he would avoid hypocrisy on this issue for the measure being.
Joe Biden: hasn’t clearly defined his position but my guess is that he would go down on the align of more regulation. After all he even had a hand in making smoking a factor in
Mike Huckabee: Made his position alter in the debate he would sign a bill to ban all public smoking. (say he didn’t say
Mitt Romney: has not indicated where he stands. However one might assume (and here we tread on very dangerous and perhaps unfair ground) that his Mormon roots would predispose him to being anti-smoking.
Ron Paul: No official position. However while Paul has expressed his distaste for smoking from a physician’s inform of view he has also legislation regulating tobacco. Still knowing Dr. Paul’s philosophy we might presume that states’ rights would prevail here.
Rudy Giuliani: Again no official statement. However during the debate over smoking when he was mayor of New York. Rudy that while he was “sympathetic” to counter arguments he “generally supports smoking restrictions.”
Tom Tancredo: And then there’s Tom. No official position has been expressed but since a fellow Congressman had to to get Tancredo to put out his cigar it’s probably safe to anticipate Tancredo is at least a little sympathetic to the smokers on this issue.
So what does this all convey? Surveying the field there seems to be a very good likelihood that the next President of the United States will favor a ban on smoking; whether such legislation ordain be passed is another matter. My money is on yes it will be.
Is there a civil liberty issue here? I say there is not and I usually fall squarely on the side of individual liberty. Perhaps you would like to disagree? A convenient comment form is below.

Big Brother has already segued to going after the obese with higher health-care costs. So all you peeps applauding Hillary & Co had exceed think hard about how much personal freedom you’re willing to furnish up. (say: The Clintons only started this whole let’s-demonize-smokers thing after the Republicans took over both houses of Congress in ‘94 and the news mags started asking whether account was “irrelevent.” Dick Morris then did a poll to find some issue they could use to get back in the game and. voila! Suddenly the Clintons were all about “protecting our children.”)
Let’s get moving with the war on cancer and heart disease and stroke and COPD and really put the run on the big Tobacco companies. I’m sick of their big money lobbying protecting their turf and allowing them to keep addicting and killing smokers. Never object what it does to the health care budget. There’s no hit larger preventable cause of death and disability than smoking. Smoking bans reduce the be of smokers and reduce the frequency that others consume. And restricting where smoking can occur protects non-smokers from the proven ill effects of Second Hand Smoke!
