Well lately I've been having a rather bad time cigar wise. All of my smokes even my favorites start out great then progress to a flavor I can only describe as 'sulfuric'. Thought I was smoking too fast and overheating them so I slowed down. Same problem. Then it dawned on me that the recent bout of high humidity outside (around 91 RH at the moment) might have something to do with it. I must have torched around 20 or so cigars before I came to this realization. Shame it happened but at least I found out about it. I'll be making a trip to my local B&M tomorrow to pick up some replacements and enjoy their (properly humidified) smoking lounge. I've heard people talk about not wanting to smoke when it's really humid outside. I never let that stop me. I haven't really noticed a difference. It's always humid here in Houston. Can a cigar really absorb that much moisure that quick? Sometimes. I've never had it happen to the degree that VincenteFox has recently but I have had them swell and split the wrappers. Mostly I note this on larger ring gauge smokes - very rarely on smaller ring gauges. Ron Sometimes. I've never had it happen to the degree that VincenteFox has recently but I have had them swell and split the wrappers. Ron I'd be willing to bet the splitting/swelling is directly proportional to the length of time exposed to severe humidity. (ie small ring gauge are alive alot less time then the big boys) I have had sticks split on me. Right on the spot. The Bolivar lonesdale in that review did. It started splitting beore I got very far in. I've heard people talk about not wanting to smoke when it's really humid outside. I never let that stop me. I haven't really noticed a difference. "back to school (with kids)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 14:19:43

well today the kids cam flooding back through the doors as we kicked off yet another educate year. I know I have little symathy from those of you who are not blessed to work in the education field and had to bring home the bacon all summer but for those of us in the world of academia this is a very exciting/intense measure of year my smallest categorise is currently at 20 (and ordain change in the next few days) and my biggest class is 35 (and I am praying this does NOT change any further!) with 135 total students this year. I have my hands beat!On another note as of the beginning of the day today. I am officially a tenured teacher.. and that is a good thing! I have already been asked to sit on converse commitees to check candidates who ordain possibly become future candidates of mine. I am definately excited to be a move of that decision making process. I am also being actively recruited by my union president to become involved in the union. As they say they are looking for "young teachers who will carry new outlooks and perspectives and who ordain actively increase involvement from other porfessionals within their age demographic" (taken from an telecommunicate I got today). I am still 'on the fence' about this opportunity though. Between grad school coaching and ski unify.. i'm pretty well booked!regardless it's a pretty sxciting measure of year for me and thought I would share with all of you. I'll keep you guys updated if anything interesting happens.. and it will! fantastic! tenureship is HUGE! way to go!!its' 'approve to school nite' for my daughter's alma be and I DON'T undergo TO GO!! Yeah teaching is harder than anyone who hasn't tried it can create by mental act. The hours are a KILLER. Best of luck on a good year and convey you for all that you do. Congrats on your advance appointment bait! My first day with the students was yesterday also. It went pretty come up my bind is a little small this year at 98 kids and not very come up balanced so I need to do some persuading to get some kids to change by reversal to other instruments. So here is an example of the ineptitude of my administration. I walked into my 6th period Music Theory categorise that I'm teaching this year and ALOT of kids are walking in. Some of them are scheduled for command Music. When I be at their schedule under room assignment N/A is notated. It's not applicable for them to actually undergo a room to have their categorise!!! So the first day with these kids the teacher has to take the whole class down to the office with her so she can figure out where she is going to inform the class instead of going over her categorise expectations etc. Other than that it was a stellar day for her! __________________Greed for lack of a exceed word is good. When are you going to have time for a smoke? __________________“The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of great moral crises maintain their neutrality”--Dante Alighieri "By the cigars they smoke and the composers they love ye shall know the texture of men's souls." When are you going to have time for a smoke? um.. pretty much between the hours of 4ish till well whenever I go to bed that is until the spring (when grad educate and lacrosse get real intense) then my smokes are restricted till the pass so to answer your question pretty much whenever the hell I can!
