Thanks for having me and a bit about who I am. I've been in the cigar industry 30 years as a Rep. Reg. Mgr.. NATL Sales Mgr and after all of that decided to cool the jet burners and do my own thing. So if you haven't heard the SCHIP -- which is basically extending health insurance to some children -- will be drastically increasing the cigar tax from the approximately 4.5 cents a cigar it is now to a maximum of $10 a cigar. Now. I got no problem with health insurance for kids or whathaveyou.. but the potential devastation to an industry by a 20,000%+ change magnitude in tax on a product doesn't necessarily mean it's a "gimme" for revenue - it'll simply lower sales (probably dramatically). On the other transfer what's one of the biggest contributors towards childhood obesity? High fructose feed syrup. Why not tax the heck outta that?Don't write in to me to say "well you shouldn't consume cigars anyways" because yes. I know they're bad for you and no. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more in additional taxes on them - but not THAT much more.(PS - comfort off caffeine!)

Found this site and after a few days of lurking thought it would be great to join. Somewhat new to quality cigars. I've smoked "decent" ones for years and about 2 years ago started experimenting with very good smokes. I'm a former Alaskan fisherman of 9 years living approve down in the displace 48. I grew up in Chicago so I'm slowly adjusting to life back here. Up there. I was in the fishing industry--recreational contract and commercial. I was also a hunting guide in the off toughen or when I had drink measure. drink here. I'm an associate professor at a state university in SE Wisconsin and I also work at an alternative school teaching and counseling. It's authorise but I'd rather be up north. I'm the proud papa of a one month old little boy named Sean David. I love him to death and couldn't be any happier finally being a daddy. There's a pic of my little boy attached.
