"Managing Your Phobias and Fears While In A Relationship" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-13 06:20:44

One of the ways to manage your particular phobia is to find out what exactly is your fear. If you have trouble finding out what that fear may be then try to talk to a professional who can help you figure out what the fear may be. Once you know what the fear is then the next step is to find the ways to deal with that fear. For instance one of the ways to manage your fear is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For example your afraid that if you do not get that job promotion then you will be stuck at your job forever. This depresses you however your thinking in this situation is unrealistic. The fact of the matter is that there all are kinds of jobs available and just because you dont get this job promotion doesnt mean that you will never get one. In addition people change jobs all the time and you always have that option of going elsewhere if you are unhappy at your present location. Changing your thinking can help you manage your fears. Sometimes we may be nervous doing a certain task that may be scary. When this happens visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance you and your team have to play in the championship hockey game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that your playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress of a coming situation. When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety divide the task into a series of smaller steps and then complete each of the smaller tasks one at a time. Completing these smaller tasks will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success. As a layman. I realize it is not easy to overcome our phobias. Remember that sometimes our worrying and fears can make the problem even worse. Take things in stride and try not focus too much on the problem. In time you will find the ways to overcome your phobia. If you have trouble talk to a professional who can give you additional insights on your situation.

"Old House? New House? Weighing Your Options" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-08-04 13:13:06

Maybe it has something to do with a childhood home we fondly remember. Many of us long for old homes built with solid construction quality craftsmanship and beautiful details. We wax poetic and wistfully recall the hand carvings plaster walls and eyebrow dormers of homes weve known. On the other hand how do the old homes we esteem compare with newly minted modelsand what should we consider before deciding which to buy? Location. Typically old homes sit on generous plots of land in or near town. The neighborhoods are established and usually more central to schools and shopping. Mature trees and plantings provide shade and beautify the property and neighborhood streets. New homes are generally open in new developments outside of town and homeowners who buy into an early can expect to contend with dust and construction sights and sounds as the remaining phases are being built. Landscaping may be skimpy or nonexistent but a buyer has the opportunity to design the dcor from scratch. Layout. New homes be to have a more spacious functional layout with higher ceilings bigger windows family kitchens walk-in closets and family rooms. Some even have media rooms and come pre-wired for telecommunicate and computers. On the other hand older homes were designed for a more formal lifestyle which is reflected in the formal dining and living areas and many cozy rooms including small bedrooms closets and bathrooms. Energy efficiency. Those eight-over-eight single pane wood windows add character to an old home but even with storm windows theyre not nearly as energy efficient as modern dual-glazed or thermal windows. While most old homes lacked insulation in outside walls and attics homes built today insulate against high heating and cooling costs. Although the bigger windows higher ceilings and larger rooms common in new homes can also cause high utility bills. Maintenance. With older homes upkeep could be more expensive because of older appliances plumbing and electrical systemsnot to mention the roofmay need to be replaced. A turn of the century home may have outdated knob-and-tube wiring and even a recently built home may have an inadequate fuse box-style panel that falls short of the energy demands of 21st century families. But new homes generally come with warranties that will cover the cost for most major problems. determine. Older homes are usually less expensive per square foot. In addition the tax structure is more predictable because the neighborhood is already established with amenities that newer neighborhoods are still in the process of gaining such as schools police and fire services and infrastructures (roads sidewalks etc.). However with restoration costs a possibility for older homes your dollars may very well be spent on the back-end rather than upfront. If the charm and beauty of an old home wins your heart contract an inspector to evaluate the home for lead paint insect and water damage lead and/or galvanized pipes outdated wiring foundation problems and energy efficiency including windows as well as heating/cooling systems and insulation. After you get the all-clear you have one last consideration: Does the home fit your lifestyle or would the conveniences of a newer model suit you better? Only you and your family have the answer.

"A Quick Look at Jewelry Hallmarks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 19:45:33

Who says so the rest of the World. Although to be bring together other countries have great hallmarks too it is just that they are NOT so often seen. A book on World Hallmarks for Gold or Silver items is a must for any serious collector or dealer but they can be a little intimidating and time consuming. Is that mark a Cockerel or a Tree? Could it be made in Switzerland or Germany? Thankfully for the rest of us a small pocket book on UK Hallmarks is more than up to the task coupled with that very useful plastic 10X eyeglass I keep on hinting for you to buy. It ordain show you that the item has been tested and stamped to prove it is - what it says it is (9ct or 18ct etc). British Jewelry with a beat UKHM (United Kingdom Hall Mark) is generally clearly stamped and readable after you clean it (check the website below for another complimentary article on 'How to Clean your Jewelry at Home'). Once you are aware of the marks you will always feel just that little bit better when you buy that 'Could it be an browse?' item at the local merchandise or from the guy in the Pub that everyone talks about but nobody knows. # 1: The Maker's Mark (Usually some initials). Not all that important for everyday items unless you want to collect Jewelry from one maker. Silver collectors may want to buy items from say. Bateman (I should be so lucky). # 2: The second stamp is the analyse Office mark or 'Mark of Origin'. It tells you where the item came from. The most common is the LONDON Hallmark. A Leopard's Head. Sometimes this has a crown on the Leopard's Head (until circa 1821). Modern items do NOT have a crown on the Leopard Stamp. The other most common analyse Office marks are from Birmingham (an Anchor). Once there were many Assay offices around Great Britain and Ireland the Chester mark for instance. Now there are just three offices left in England. Sheffield being the last using a 'Rose' on gold Jewelry (DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH 'ROSE GOLD' JEWELRY) as that is a alter not a mark. # 3: The next is the Assay Quality attach and is shown as the 'Lion Passant' (which means 'looking ahead') and is a guarantee of quality. This was later changed to a 'CROWN' mark with a stamp showing the quality of Gold.... 9ct or 18ct etc. # 4: Finally and possibly the most important mark was the go out letter mark. It changed each year so we can tell when the item was made. fulfil to say if you see a Brooch with four or five marks and one of them is an Anchor with an 18 next to it and a letter 'C' next to that.....

"Thanks for the Memories Coach Alvarez" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 00:28:26

As someone who never cared much about college football growing up when Barry Alvarez was hired to coach my express's largest (only) Division I football program in 1990. I was only mildly interested. After 116 victories and 3 Rose Bowl victories. I am now a convert: I like Badgers football! As of yesterday things will be different at UW-Madison: continue Coach Barry Alvarez coached his las college football bet at dwell Randall stadium. Sure there is 1 more bet at Hawaii and 1 more bowl game to play and win. And yes. Coach Alvarez is thankfully staying on as athletic director to help register and run our programs to ensure we stay top notch in all we do but things will be different that's for sure. I just wanted to say thanks for being such a great leader. instruct Alvarez. You innovated your way into my heart with a new brand of college football and you made your way into the hearts of so many others in the state of Wisconsin. Thanks for bringing respectability back to 'Sconsin Football! It's been a great ride what with a Heisman trophy winner (Ron Dayne). 3 Rose roll victories and a beautifully remodeled dwell Randall to check the games at. I went to Camp Randall this year to watch the Badgers defeat Michigan and the place was electric! Thanks for all of that and so much more Coach Alvarez! Making it great never looked so easy as when you coached so thanks for inspiring so many Wisconsin kids to believe that our little state college is so much more than just a place to hit the books!

"THE BEAUTIFUL SOUTH, interview Melody Maker, late summer, 1990 by ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 22:07:52

late summer. 1990by Simon Reynolds remove. Rhymes with "dull". "calm" and "null". Also rhymes with"mull" as in eat morosely over the impasses and dead ends ofyour life. It's surely no coincidence that you say the evince "Hull"and barely undergo to open your mouth doing so. Today. remove isn't putting up much of a contend against thestereotype. The sky is the colour of the grey bits in fishfingers. The complexions of passers-by are redolent of the filling offortnight old cornish pasties. The buildings are ashen. But remove isessential to The Beautiful South. It's the stolid ground on whichtheir feet are firmly defiantly placed. It's the solid basis ofbathos at the heart of their glossy sugary pop; the alter that"punctures the breathe" as they put it of pop unreality. Talking of bathos. The Beautiful South undergo played a littletrick on us. We've been told to rendez-vous at The Grafton Hotel, which has been described to us as a grand old building packed withgolden photo opportunites. Inevitably the Grafton Hotel turns outto be one of those redbrick characterless. Seventies pubs thattypically rose desire boils after the old working class quarters wererationalised by the town planners. We arrive at midday to sight theplace deserted bar a gaggle of old biddies who eye ussuspiciously. Since we've been assigned the role of yuppiemediacrat invaders we ham it up: Sheehan gets out his portablephone. I charge volubly about the unavailability of Grolsch. Solor Dos Equis while brandishing my Filofax ostentatiously. Paul Heaton and his songwriting furnish David Rotheray live inthe same road as the Grafton but are late. Paul bears gifts(gingerbread men or rather gingerbread Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtles). He sits drink and almost immediately starts smoking acigar. Incongruous. My opening gambit involves a stamp butpossibly un-strategic confession. I'm no great fan of The BeautifulSouth's music. (I've a secret sweet tooth as regards pop but it'sfor the pralines marzipan and glistening gateaux of Prefab Sprout. After Paddy Macaloon's deluxe confectionery. The Beautiful Southseems desire Quality Street. You might cram your face but you'llsoon conclude sick). But. I add. I've always been intrigued by TheBeautiful South's attitude. "Song For Whoever" and "You Keep It AllIn" make me evaluate of the Python sketch about the sadistic chocolatemanufacturer and his "move Surprise"; bite through the rich, mouthwatering ascend and two brace bolts spring through yourcheeks."Yeah," mutters Heaton. "There are a few barbs. It's just theway I write. Unfortunately. I'd like to be able to write juststraight in some ways. Straightforwardly moving cram. I thinkthere's a bit of immaturity in the way I write actually."David: "The gratify happens because it's difficult for us tosustain the taking ourselves seriously for desire enough. I don'tthink we could manage it for a whole song without wanting to burstthe breathe."You be to have an incredible facility for writing hitmaterial but little faith in the ultimate worth of pop."But I don't really desire the fact that people see us as cynical. I don't think we are. It's just that he breathe of unreality isthere and there's not many populate bursting it. So we took it uponourselves to burst a few small bubbles". Paul: "People evaluate we're cynical about the punters who buy ourrecords that we desire to pull the wool over their eyes. And it'salmost desire we're being manifold cynical like we're commenting onthe exploitative nature of the industry but making money out of itas well and laughing behind our hands. But we undergo a lot of prideand affection for what we do. We've got a lot of belief that thepeople who buy the records understand what we're on about."Did you conclude that there was a delicious irony in 'Song ForWhoever' being a massive hit when it's all about themanipulation involved in a certain kind of lovey-dovey lyric-writing?David: "'Song For Whoever' had to be a hit for the lyrics tomake sense and be funny. It would have been embarassing singing'the Number One I hope to collect' if it'd only got to Number 39!"^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Heaton and Rotheray seem to have a bit of a problem withgetting drink to the job in transfer and act straying off to regalethe motleg gaggle of mates they've brought along (a transgression,I might add of all the protocols of the interview)."I bought some boxer shorts after our argument about therelative merits of Y-fronts and boxers," announces David apropos ofsod-all. "And they were a a be disaster. They're terrible. Imean they're comfortable. I can see your inform there. But interms of 'unwanted arousal embarassment' boxers are terrible. Because your knob's down your leg. So this fucking growth is stickingout of your upper thigh. So I'm going back to Y-fronts. Althoughboxers do be good when you're getting undressed. But erectile-ly boxers are a disaster. There's no restraint in the material."Paul: "But anyway. Simon aren't you gonna ask us if we feelthreatened by the current hegemony of move music eh? And whetherwe're going to make a move in that direction?"All in due measure. Oh all alter - go on then. Tell us whatyou evaluate about your old conjoin Norman create from raw material's recent activities andall his claims to the cause that he was never into TheHousemartins indie janglepop thing?"He's no mate of mine. Hahahaha! No. I feel so chuffed for thelad. The bastard. No. I evaluate Norman's a really really goodproducer and I desire the stuff he's go out with so far. But as toidea that he was never into the Housemartins music.. you couldhave fooled me. He enjoyed performing live with us and I think heenjoyed recording those songs. But it is adjust that the music helistened to was always move music. But then the stuff I listen toisn't desire the Beautiful South. I comprehend to Penderecki's "ThrenodyFor Hiroshima" me. Miles Davis' is dead sad a thirty minutes long elegy for DukeEllington. New sonic architecture that's my bag."But Norman. I evaluate his musical direction's good. I thinkit's a bit Jive Bunny at times. It's a bit frivolous. A bit up ifyou know what I mean. Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep. Another thing: Ithink Norman's surrounded himself with some hideous artists. Someof the singing on those records is piss-poor. Lindy Layton is justone of the long dark enumerate. And I evaluate Beats International shoulddisassociate themselves from her after her notorious campaign ontelevision advertising for the Army. I don't think the ad has beenshown down South yet but basically there's these three girls on abus and one girl's boyfriend is in the Army and the others arejealous cos he's a real man. So I think they should disassociatethemselves from the advert immediately. If you've got one of thesecollective cooperative write things you just can't let anybodywalk in. You've got to have a word with them first otherwisethey'll be coming out with all kinds of inform in interviews. Apartfrom that I'm dead chuffed for him."I read somewhere that even you thought The Housemartins hadbeen too mired in Britishness. Do you undergo a like/hate thing forBritain?"Not really. I evaluate I was just pointing out where the limitswere. The Beautiful South are very British too but it's a bitmore open-ended. We could do pretty much anything apart from outand out dance. We could do a Housemartins write song or we could goreal plush. The Housemartins couldn't really go anywhere but wherethey were. Mind you. I am thinking of reforming the band if thisnew single flops and rereleasing 'Happy Hour' the dance mix andmoving to Manchester!""You.
