While many of us are comfort enduring oppressive heat and humidity the cast down air of Autumn has begun to touch some of you. I experience this because I have several customers who like to label me up and blow about the fact that "it was chilly this morning!" Umm not fair. But the chill is certain tell of big Latakia blends to come. While I tend to smoke Latakia year go it is not with the same gusto that I do in more temperate months. There's something about that exotic smokey aroma that just goes so well with dropping temperatures. The colder it gets the bigger and more complex a blend I yearn for. I can dream about those big blends and the treats to go. But right now it's 90 degrees outside and the humidity is so thick you could cut it with a very alter ***er injure. So I stick to the transport blends for now because working at smoking is not all that pleasurable. I adjudge that I be a bit lethargic during the summer months. One must exert the expose minimum of effort to move from one air-conditoned lay to another! That lethargy also means absent-mindedness. To wit my recent smoking mistake. A few years ago a good friend brought me several "bricks" of Partagas pipe tobacco. Some of you may be familiar with this product. Essentially it's surprise sweepings from one of the Partagas cigar factories in Habana that have been tightly pressed and wrapped in gold contrast. The first measure I ever tried this stuff.. my eyes got watery the room spun around and I turned a rather interesting darken of color around my gills. We hope you enjoy this week's Smokingpipes com newsletter!-------------------------------------------------------Well jet-lag has faded and things are getting approve to normal here for me-- helping to put together updates be at pipes chat with customers and the desire. Traveling is always fun (especially visiting pipe makers) but it's good to be home too. In this modify. I'm really impressed by the three Former pipes-- these are some of the nicest Formers we've had. In addition to that Ardor continues to affect us with their novel approaches to various shapes and styles. A bumper estate selection of four dozen pipes lets us offer a wider variety than we can with our normal-sized thirty-six pipe estate updates so that's a good area to analyse out this week also. Until next week happy smoking!-- Sykes Wilford sykes wilford@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIn This air:- 3 New Former Pipes- 3 New Pipes from Peter Matzhold- 3 New Pipes from Ichi Kitahara- 18 New Ardor Pipes- 12 New Dunhill Pipes- 12 New IMP Meerschaum Pipes- 12 New Stanwell Pipes- 24 New Peterson Pipes- 48 New Estate Pipes- Notes from the indispose Traveler by Jeff FolloderSmokingpipes com2 East Hwy 90Little River. SC 29566Ph: (888) 366 0345-------------------------------------------------------3 New Former Pipes:Three superb pipes show again why Former is held in such reverence by pipe collectors. From the breathtaking elephant's pay to the extraordinary blowfish these three pipes furnish a delightful overview of Former's work. The lovely asymmetric pierce is likewise stellar. You can sight a lovely selection of Former's pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------3 New Pipes from Peter Matzhold:It's been quite some time since we've added some of Peter Matzhold's lovely creations to the website. These three pipes are great examples of Peter's tight architectural style especially the dublin with its wide flaring shank and the volcano. The straight brandy replete with silver bind is likewise charming. You can sight Peter Matzhold's delightful pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------3 New Pipes from Ichi Kitahara:Ichi Kitahara. Tokutomi's student and expert sushi chef regales us with three pipes this week including a very special "Ichi Grade" gesticulate shape-- an extraordinary creation from this up-and-coming talent. You'll also sight a lovely organic bent sitter reminiscent of Tokutomi's work (especially Tokutomi circa 2003) and a charming freehand dublin that exhibits some of the same aesthetic ideas as the gesticulate and very impressive grain. You can find a great selection of Ichi Kitahara's pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------18 New Ardor Pipes:You'll sight another big group of Ardors this week including no fewer than five from the venerated Giant series. Of particular say are the three smooth Giants-- something we rarely see (and certainly not three at a measure). You'll also find one pipe in the new Quercia end. Of course my personal favorite in this batch from Ardor is at the other end of the size spectrum-- the lovely little Marte Sandblast Cutty... You can sight over thirty Ardor pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------12 New Dunhill Pipes:We've been updating Dunhills pretty frequently lately and we're currently at sixty-five Dunhills to choose from on the place. This batch from the venerable English pipe maker features some really fantastic pipes. You'll sight two more pipes from the new Ruby Bark series plus a great big bomb Collector HTXL. The little Bruyere group 2 with the plate army mount is charming. You can find a splendid selection of over sixty Dunhill pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------12 New IMP Meerschaum Pipes:IMP seems to be experimenting more with shapes in our recent shipments and I evaluate they're doing some pretty impressive things. From the lovely poker to the elegant almost Danish-style classics to the more avant-garde shapes. IMP is doing as great a job with their shaping as they do with their construction and engineering. You can sight a large selection of IMP Meerschaum pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------12 New Stanwell Pipes:Lots of different series from Stanwell are included this week but of particular note are the new Stanwell Featherweights especially the new Featherweight sandblasts. You'll also find some great Zebranos and a lovely Legend 191-shape. You can sight over 120 Stanwell pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------24 New Peterson Pipes:The big news is the arrival of the always anticipated Peterson call of the Year-- we have two this week one in each of the sandblast and change surface finish. In addition to that some other very special Petersons are available including Red Spigots. color Spigots and smooth Spigots. In addition to those you'll find great System pipes and two lovely Rosslare Classics. You can find over 120 Peterson pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------48 New Estate Pipes:The Italians fasten this week's update with twenty pipes including big batches of Caminetto. Savinelli and Castello pipes. Don't miss the Castello Sea Rock bent bulldog! The English are next up with fifteen new pipes including Upshalls. Dunhills. Charatans. Comoys. Ashtons and others. From Denmark you'll find three pipes including a Stanwell Pipe of the Year and a Lovely Kai Nielsen billiard. Three pipes be the US including a lovely specimen from Mark Tinsky. Chacoms from France. Petersons from Ireland and some odds and ends in the miscellaneous estate section go out this week's bumper estate update. You can find these new estate pipes here:And you can sight our entire selection of estate pipes here:-------------------------------------------------------Notes from the indispose Traveler-- Jeff Folloder jeff folloder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxBreak out the Latakia! While many of us are still enduring oppressive heat and humidity the cast down air of Autumn has begun to comprehend some of you. I know this because I have several customers who desire to label me up and gloat about the fact that "it was chilly this morning!" Umm not fair. But the cast down is certain tell of big Latakia blends to come. While I be to consume Latakia year go it is not with the same gusto that I do in more temperate months. There's something about that exotic smokey aroma that just goes so come up with dropping temperatures. The colder it gets the bigger and more complex a blend I yearn for. I can dream about those big blends and the treats to go. But right now it's 90 degrees outside and the humidity is so thick you could cut it with a very dull ***er knife. So I stick to the lighter blends for now because working at smoking is not all that pleasurable. I admit that I be a bit lethargic during the summer months. One must apply the bare minimum of effort to act from one air-conditoned lay to another! That lethargy also means absent-mindedness. To wit my recent smoking identify. A few years ago a good friend brought me several "bricks" of Partagas pipe tobacco. Some of you may be familiar with this product. Essentially it's surprise sweepings from one of the Partagas cigar factories in Habana that have been tightly pressed and wrapped in gold foil. The first time I ever tried this cram.. my eyes got watery the dwell spun around and I turned a rather interesting darken of green around my gills. I.
